Police Blotter: Incidents Allegedly Connected to 'The Bar'
A summary of the week's incidents in which a website named boring.now was, allegedly, a contributing factor. The site itself committed no crimes. Several of its users may have come close.
- April 19 · 02:14 · 1100 block of Alder Lane
Caller reported male subject, mid-thirties, sitting in parked vehicle for over four hours staring at phone screen. Subject identified himself as 'almost done.' Officers determined no crime in progress. Subject was advised to go home. Subject did not.
- April 19 · 11:42 · Walgreens, Main and 5th
Card declined three consecutive times at register. Customer apologized to clerk and explained, unprompted, that the money was 'on the bar.' Clerk asked which bar. Customer left without further clarification.
- April 20 · 03:31 · Pinegrove Estates, gated community
Noise complaint. Resident reported neighbor 'yelling at a website' from his upstairs office. Officer made contact. Resident, who declined to give his name but identified himself as 'Trevor T.,' apologized and stated he had been 'closing it out.' No citation issued. Officer noted three monitors were still on.

Citizen reported individual 'twisting' something on a phone for the duration of the morning commute. Subject responded to questioning by saying 'fifty cents at a time' three times before disembarking. No further action taken.

Library staff reported patron occupying the same study carrel for the third consecutive day, refreshing what appeared to be a progress bar at a steady cadence. Staff requested patron's removal at closing. Patron complied politely and asked if Wi-Fi would be available the following day.
- April 22 · 20:09 · Mt. Hosanna AME Church basement
Reverend reported a guest at the weekly bingo using a phone in violation of posted rules. Phone was confiscated. Phone screen displayed a percentage value. Phone was returned at the end of the evening. Guest reportedly did not win at bingo.
- April 23 · 00:41 · Wendy's drive-thru, southbound 9 highway
Driver in line for sixteen minutes without ordering. Manager flagged down officer. Driver stated they were 'waiting for the cap to move' and apologized. Driver then ordered. Driver paid. Driver remained in lot for an additional twenty minutes before departing.

Spouse reported partner had spent an undisclosed amount on a website that 'doesn't do anything.' Officer mediated. Partner produced receipts. Receipts confirmed website did not, in fact, appear to do anything. Spouses elected to discuss further in private. No citation issued.
- April 24 · 06:44 · Coffee bar, Briar and 12th
Patron asked barista, on three separate visits over the same morning, what the current percentage was. Barista declined to answer on principle. Patron tipped generously each time and was reportedly 'pleasant.' No incident.
- April 24 · 23:50 · ATM vestibule, First Federal
Camera footage captured an individual withdrawing the daily limit, looking at his phone, withdrawing the daily limit again from a different account, looking at his phone, then leaving. Subject was identified as a person of interest in three prior reports. No charges filed. Conduct appears, to date, to be lawful.
